Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, egg, milk, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and dried thyme.
  • Gently mix the ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf shape in a greased baking dish.

Baking Meatloaf

  • Bake uncovered for approximately 45 minutes.

Mushroom Sauce Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Add the sliced cremini mushrooms and sauté until golden brown.
  • Stir in the minced garlic, then add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, simmering until thickened.

Final Assembly

  • After 45 minutes of baking, remove the meatloaf and top with Swiss cheese.
  • Spoon the mushroom mixture over the cheese and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain moisture. Use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches 160°F (70°C).
