Ingredients

For the Pastry

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Cut the puff pastry sheet into 9 equal rectangles and arrange on a lined baking sheet.
  • Brush each rectangle with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Layer another sheet of parchment and place a second baking tray on top to prevent puffing.
  • Bake for 15–17 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Allow to cool completely.

Make the Mascarpone Cream

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth and creamy.
  • Add heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest, then whip until thick and fluffy.

Prepare the Strawberries

  • Toss sliced strawberries with 1 tablespoon of sugar and let sit for 10–15 minutes.

Assembly

  • On a serving plate, place one pastry rectangle, then pipe or spoon a layer of mascarpone cream.
  • Add a layer of macerated strawberries, repeat with another layer of pastry, cream, and strawberries.
  • Top with a final rectangle of puff pastry.

Finish and Serve

  • Dust the top layer with powdered sugar and add a slice of strawberry or mint for garnish.
  • Serve immediately or chill for up to 2 hours.

Notes

For maximum flakiness, keep the dough cold. You can prepare the mascarpone cream a day ahead. Store components separately for optimal freshness.
