  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

For the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Topping

  • 1 cup strawberry pie filling
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix with the ingredients listed on the box until smooth.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the greased baking dish.
  • Scatter the chopped fresh strawberries over the batter.

Making the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter and gently swirl it through with a knife.

Baking

  • Dollop the strawberry pie filling over the top, swirling lightly again.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  • Allow the cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  • Top with fresh strawberries before serving.

Notes

Make sure the cream cheese is thoroughly softened before mixing. For a stronger strawberry flavor, add a splash of strawberry extract. Consider mixing in other berries for a mixed berry variation.
