Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the egg, softened butter, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Once risen, roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12x18 inches.
  • Spread softened cream cheese over the rolled-out dough, then layer the strawberry preserves on top.
  • Carefully roll the dough into a log shape, sealing the edges, and slice into 12 rolls.
  • Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, cover them, and let them rise for 30 more minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While the rolls are baking, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spread the frosting over the warm rolls. Drizzle with strawberry glaze and sprinkle with crushed graham crackers if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For best results, ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate yeast. Knead thoroughly and allow ample time for rising. Experiment with different fruit preserves if desired.
