Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, finely chopped cooked shrimp, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix everything together until well combined.
  • Lay a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Place approximately 1 teaspoon of the shrimp and cream cheese filling in the center.
  • Dab some beaten egg around the edges of the wonton wrapper and fold it into a triangle or pouch shape, pressing the edges to seal tightly.

Cooking

  • In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the filled wontons in small batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once fried, remove the wontons from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Garnish and serve hot with sweet chili sauce.

Notes

Fry wontons in batches to prevent sticking. Ensure the edges are sealed well. Experiment with different fillings and adjust seasoning to taste.
