  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced Chicken provides the protein

  • 1 jar 24 ounces of marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade marinara works
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For creaminess

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped For garnish and flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional) For a mild kick

Preparation

  • Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken and season with salt and black pepper. Cook until the chicken is browned.
  • Pour in the marinara sauce and 2 cups of water, stirring to combine. Add the uncooked pasta, ensuring every piece is coated in the sauce.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil before reducing the heat to a gentle simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the pasta is cooked, mix in the mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate your chicken in Italian seasoning or garlic beforehand. You can also add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
