Preparation

  • If desired, cut the mozzarella sticks into bite-sized pieces.
  • Prepare three bowls: one with flour, the second with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and the third with Italian bread crumbs.
  • Take each mozzarella piece, roll it in the flour until evenly coated, dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with the bread crumbs.
  • For additional crunch, repeat the egg and bread crumb coating once more.
  • Place the coated cheese bites on a tray and freeze them for about 30 minutes.
  • In a deep pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C) for frying.
  • Fry the cheese bites in small batches for about 1–2 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Use a slotted spoon to drain the bites on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve them hot.

Notes

For the perfect bites, ensure thorough freezing and experiment with panko breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture. Consider adding spices or herbs for extra flavor.
