Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, water, and maple syrup. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  • Cook for about 10–12 minutes until cranberries burst and the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes.
  • Transfer to a blender or use an immersion blender to purée until silky smooth.
  • If adding butter, stir it in while the mixture is warm.
  • Let cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars.

Notes

For a chunkier texture, blend less. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Can freeze in ice cube trays.
