Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 large fish fillet (snapper, sea bass, or cod) Use firm white fish.
  • 1-2 small red chilies, thinly sliced Adjust spice level as desired.
  • to taste salt and black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2-3 slices fresh ginger For infusing flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil or olive oil
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges For garnish and serving.
  • to taste fresh coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse and dry your fish fillet, and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, and oil.

Cooking

  • Bring about an inch of water to simmer in a pot and place a steamer basket inside.
  • Place the seasoned fish on a heatproof plate, tuck ginger slices underneath, and pour the sauce on top.
  • Slide the plate into the steamer, cover, and cook for approximately 8-10 minutes.

Serving

  • Sprinkle chili slices and fresh coriander over the cooked fish, and squeeze lime wedges on top.
  • Serve with rice or sautéed vegetables.

Notes

Consider marinating the fish for 30 minutes prior to cooking for extra flavor. You can swap ginger with lemongrass for a different taste.
