Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 1/2 cup crispy panko bread crumbs for extra crunch
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola recommended

For the Dips

  • 1 15-ounce jar marinara sauce, warmed for dipping
  • 1/2 cup smooth mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup tangy sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients for the mozzarella sticks. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, panko bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs and milk until well combined.
  • Take each mozzarella cube and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Next, roll the coated mozzarella in the flour mixture, pressing lightly so the coating adheres well.

Frying

  • Heat about 1 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat until the temperature reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add the coated mozzarella cubes into the hot oil, frying for about 2–3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mozzarella sticks and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Making the Creamy Dip

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, chopped parsley, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  • Cover and refrigerate the dip until you’re ready to serve.

Serving

  • Arrange the crispy mozzarella sticks on a serving plate.
  • Serve hot, accompanied by the warmed marinara sauce and the chilled creamy dip on the side.

Notes

To achieve perfect mozzarella sticks, ensure your oil is hot enough before frying. Don’t overcrowd the skillet and consider adding smoked paprika to the flour mixture for added flavor. For healthier options, use whole wheat flour or almond flour.
