Instructions

Preparation

  • Soften the butter by leaving it out at room temperature until it's soft and spreadable, but not melted.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, and any optional herbs or shallots.
  • Using a fork or a spatula, mix everything together until it's fully integrated and creamy. Taste and season with salt and pepper according to your preference.
  • Scoop the mixed butter onto a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap and roll into a log shape, twisting the ends to secure.
  • Place the wrapped butter in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least 2 hours or until firm.

Serving

  • Once firm, slice the Cowboy Butter as needed. Serve it melted over steak, fish, grilled corn, baked potatoes, or spread on crusty bread.

Notes

Experiment with various herbs and spices. If storing long-term, consider freezing the butter.
