Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.

Mixing

  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  • Slowly stir in the boiling water until fully combined and smooth.
  • Carefully fold in the M&M's ensuring even distribution.

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
