Instructions

Prepare the Batter

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until they are smooth.
  • Gently add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey experience.

Bake the Donuts

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a donut pan with a little butter or non-stick spray.
  • Spoon or pipe the batter into each cavity, filling them about three-quarters full.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Glaze

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter together until smooth.
  • Once melted, stir in the corn syrup and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Let it cool slightly to thicken for dipping.

Glaze & Decorate

  • Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the warm glaze.
  • Allow any excess glaze to drip off before immediately topping with extra mini chocolate chips, chocolate drizzle, or curls.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate chips for a rich flavor. Consider using parchment paper to line your donut pan for easy release. You can prepare the batter the night before and refrigerate it.
