Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar This fine sugar dissolves easily, contributing to a perfectly smooth caramel texture.
  • 1/4 cup water Creates a syrupy base that helps with even cooking and prevents the sugar from crystallizing.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Adds richness and a luxurious mouthfeel to your caramel sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently to ensure the sugar is evenly distributed.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves into the water, creating a clear syrup.
  • Once the sugar is dissolved, increase the heat to high. Allow the mixture to come to a boil without stirring.
  • Keep a close eye on the mixture as it heats. It will begin to bubble and eventually turn a deep amber color, which can take about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir in the heavy cream. Be cautious; the mixture will bubble up vigorously.
  • Allow your caramel sauce to cool before transferring it to a jar or container for storage. It will thicken as it cools.

Notes

For best results, stir the sugar and water mixture gently for even cooking. Avoid stirring the mixture once it starts boiling to prevent crystallization. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Reheat gently when needed.
