For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise creamy base for the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce provides a sweet and tangy contrast.
  • 2 tbsp sriracha brings the heat.
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional) adds a hint of sweetness.

For the Slaw

  • 2 cups shredded green and purple cabbage for crunch and color.

  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar for tartness.

  • Soak the shrimp in buttermilk for 15 minutes to add flavor and tenderness.

Making the Bang Bang Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey (if using). Chill the sauce in the refrigerator.

Preparing the Slaw

  • Combine shredded cabbage and carrots in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, whisk together vinegar, mayonnaise, honey, salt, and pepper. Pour this dressing over the veggies and toss to combine. Chill the slaw.

Coating the Shrimp

  • In a dish, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Remove the shrimp from buttermilk, shake off any excess, and dredge in the dry mix until coated.

Frying the Shrimp

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan.
  • Fry shrimp in batches for about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Tossing the Shrimp

  • While shrimp are hot, toss in the chilled sauce until evenly coated.

Assembling the Tacos

  • Warm tortillas in a pan or microwave.
  • On each tortilla, place a generous amount of slaw, add saucy shrimp, and finish with fresh cilantro. Squeeze lime juice over the top.

Notes
