Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 round round rustic bread loaf (bread boule) Choose a hearty, crusty bread.
  • 12 oz wheel of brie Triple cream recommended.
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce Use store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves Freshly picked enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil For brushing and flavor.
  • Kosher salt To taste for seasoning.
  • Freshly ground black pepper To taste for seasoning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Bread Bowl: Slice off the top quarter of the bread loaf and hollow out the inside.
  • Cut for Easy Dipping: Make 1.5-inch cuts around the edge of the bread without cutting through the bottom.
  • Season the Bread: Brush the inside with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and half of the thyme leaves.
  • Fill with Brie & Cranberry Sauce: Place the brie in the hollowed-out bread, top with remaining thyme, and ladle the cranberry sauce over.
  • Bake Until Golden & Gooey: Replace the top of the bread and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Serve & Enjoy: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with toasted scooped-out bread pieces.

Notes

For added crunch, consider adding nuts on top of the cranberry sauce. Drizzling honey over the brie before baking enhances flavor. Choose thick crust bread to hold the filling.
