Ingredients

Beef Marinade

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced Choose tender flank steak for the best results.
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Stir-Fry Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil For frying.
  • 2 cups snow peas, trimmed
  • 1.5 cups mushrooms, sliced Any variety can work.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes Optional for heat.

Sauce

  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar For sweetness.
  • 1 tsp cornstarch To thicken the sauce.

Garnish

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  • Add sliced flank steak, ensuring each piece is well-coated, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and cornstarch.

Stir-Fry

  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add marinated beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, then set aside.
  • In the same pan, add mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes, stirring for 30 seconds.
  • Add snow peas and cook for another 2 minutes until tender-crisp.

Combine & Finish

  • Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything to coat.
  • Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serve

  • Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

For added flavor, consider drizzling a splash of sesame oil into the stir-fry at the end. You can also increase the red pepper flakes for more heat.
