Ingredients

Cheese and Pastry

  • 1 wheel Brie Around 200–250g, acts as the luscious centerpiece that melts beautifully.
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Adds a shiny, golden finish to the pastry when baked.

Apple Filling

  • 1 medium apple (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith) Provides a sweet and slightly tart bite.
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter Essential for sautéing the apples.
  • 1.5 tbsp brown sugar Adds deep caramel-like sweetness.
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon Introduces warm notes reminiscent of baked goods.
  • 1 tsp lemon juice Brightens the apple mixture.
  • pinch salt Enhances overall flavor.

Instructions

Preparing the Apple Filling

  • Start by melting 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a small pan over medium heat.
  • Add the finely diced apple to the pan and stir in 1½ tablespoons of brown sugar, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook the mixture for about 5–7 minutes until the apples are soft and caramelized. Set aside to cool completely.

Assembling the Brie Bomb

  • Place your thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface, centering the Brie wheel in the middle.
  • Spoon the cooled apple filling over the top of the Brie, ensuring it is evenly spread.
  • Fold the edges of the puff pastry around the cheese and apple filling, sealing it securely.
  • Flip the bundle over so the seam is on the bottom, score the top of the dough to allow steam to escape, and brush with egg wash.

Baking the Brie Bomb

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Place the Brie bomb on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let it sit for about 5 minutes before slicing to allow the cheese to set.

Notes

Ensure that all ingredients comply with halal guidelines. Use a high-quality Brie for the best melting results. Allow the apples to cool before placing them on the Brie to avoid a soggy pastry.
