Ingredients

For the crust

  • 1 box graham crackers, crispy and slightly sweet about 9 oz

For the pudding layer

  • 2.5 cups whole milk, rich and creamy to form the pudding
  • 1 packet instant vanilla pudding mix 3.4 oz
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip) light and airy for the perfect texture
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract optional, for added depth of flavor

For the ganache

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips indulgent and smooth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream to create a luscious consistency
  • a pinch salt balances the sweetness beautifully

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by lining a 9x9-inch square pan with parchment paper or lightly grease the bottom.
  • Lay graham crackers in a single layer across the bottom of the pan, breaking pieces as needed.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the whole milk and instant vanilla pudding mix until thickened (about 2 minutes).
  • Gently fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spread half of the pudding mixture over the graham cracker base, then add another layer of graham crackers.
  • Spread the remaining pudding mixture on top and finish with a final layer of graham crackers.

Ganache preparation

  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
  • Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  • Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.

Assembly and chilling

  • Pour the ganache over the final layer of graham crackers and spread it evenly.
  • Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding crushed nuts or shaved chocolate on top of the ganache before refrigerating. You can swap pudding flavors or use different cookies instead of graham crackers. Chilling is essential for the best texture.
